2007 Church Leadership Conference

September 19th-21st, 2007

Reports from the church Leadership Conference are coming from different directions. Everyone is talking about two things: One, the increased attendance. The conference had over 400 in attendance this year. This is one of the largest in our history. Two, Guest Speakers, Doug Small and Sheri Hawley, were a great blessing to our people. I’ve never heard more compliments about a speaker than I’ve heard about Doug Small. One minister came home and used some of Brother Small’s material immediately in his church. The result was great.

2005 Church Leadership Conference

The 2005 Church Leadership Conference was held on September 21st-23rd, 2005 at the Music Road Motel in Pigeon Forge, TN. The cost was $25.00 per person.

-Ladies Speaker-

Dr. Mary Ruth Stone, Coordinator of Women's Ministries
-Church of God International Offices, Cleveland, TN

-Mens Speaker-

Dr. Mark Rutland, President of Southeastern University
-Lakeland, Florida and President of Global Servants, Inc.

Dr. Mark Rutland and Dr. Mary Ruth Stone were great speakers. Dr. Rutland held the audience spellbound with his knowledge and ability to teach and preach. Dr. Rutland has a relaxed personality while speaking and uses appropriate humor to keep everyone’s attention. His friendliness with our people after each session was a blessing to many in attendance. On Wednesday evening his message was approximately two hours in length but seemed much shorter due to the excellent material and presentation. Everyone enjoyed him.

Dr. Mary Ruth Stone was the presenter for our women. Dr. Stone in her academic personality shared a lot of quality material. Her presentations will be remembered for the well prepared lectures and handouts that the ladies were able to bring away with them. She addressed the Plenary session on the closing morning. It was a great joy to have two people of this high quality speak at the Church Leadership Conference.

2004 Church Leadership Conference

The 31st Church Leadership Conference on September 22-24, 2004 in Pigeon Forge, Tennessee was a great success. The Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church had more than 150 in attendance. Wayne and Sherry Lee were a blessing to the people. The ladies found Mrs. Lee to be a well informed speaker, as well as, humorous and interesting. The men found Dr. Lee to be inspiring and insightful in the materials he presented to us on Church Revitalization. We will be hearing more from the Lees in coming months.

Joint Church Leadership Conference History

Dr. Herbert Carter and Bishop Cullen Hick co-founded the Joint Leadership Conference 30 years ago. Dr. Herbert Carter was honored on September 26, 2003 with a plaque. Dr. Carter and Bishop Cullen Hick, who was also honored as a co-founder, led the Pentecostal Free Will Baptist Church and the Congregational Holiness Church into a joint leadership conference to provide fellowship, training, and inspiration to our membership. The International Pentecostal Church of Christ and the Church of God Mount Assembly soon followed with participation and fellowship. The leadership conference often has been the answer to ministers and layman in their search for a clear direction and new programs. Only heaven will reveal the value of the past thirty years to ministers churches in all four denominations. We really appreciate the co-founders and superintendents who have followed them in making this conference a highlight through the years. It is amazing what a dream can bring in time.
