BEGINNINGS
Location: Pink Hill, North Carolina
Started: 1999
Pastor: Pastor Gene and Marie Turner
Pastor Gene and Marie Turner began serving as the pastor of Turning Point Assembly shortly after it was birthed in late 1999 on the West Side of Pink Hill, NC. As far as we know this is the only Pentecostal Church between Pink Hill and Kenansville, NC. The church has seen continual growth since its beginning and they are now in the process of completing a new building program. The church which started with only a few people now exceeds over 150 in attendance. Pray that God will continue to bless this church in the Pink Hill area and Pastor Turner.
A strong ministry in the church is the Royal Rangers led by Mr. Cody Sumner. Also, one of the most important ministries of the church is there prayer time on Friday evenings. They meet each Friday evening for prayer. They prayer group has grown to about 30 in attendance. The entire evening is devoted to prayer.
OLD FASHIONED DAY 2008
Pastor Gene Turner and Turning Point Assembly had an old fashioned Harvest day with more than 300 people in attendance. There was free barbeque, fish stew and plenty of other food items available to all. Restored tractors and cars helped build the excitement of the day. Old equipment and tools carried people back in memory to a yester year that many of them lived in and don’t want to return to. Singing groups entertained the people as they ate their meals in the newly built but incomplete Family Life Center. Iris and I were able to attend for a little while after lunch.
NEW FACILITIES
In 2007, the Turning Point Assembly Church moved into their new “debt-free” facility on 3 and one half acres of land. At their first Sunday in the new facility, the attendance was over 200 in the beautiful sanctuary. The church is equipped with state of the art sound and power point system. The church will have to continue with another building phase to meet the growth of the congregation. Pastor Gene Turner brought the message from Exodus 12:1-2 where he emphasized the beginning of a new day in the ministry. Congratulations to the pastor and congregation on the new facility and especially the blessing of a “debt-free” opportunity to minister.
APRIL 2008 UPDATE:
Preston Heath preached on a Sunday morning and evening in Turning Point PFWB Church in April 2008. He was blessed to see a congregation that began with some 13 people grow to a 175 Sunday morning attendance and 65 plus in the Sunday evening worship. The church has moved into new facilities and is planning another building program at this time. The new facilities are debt free due to the peoples generous giving and God’s miraculous grace. The most amazing discovery was the number of new converts that have come to the Lord in this ministry.
MAY 2008 UPDATE:
Pastor Gene Turner reports over 200 in attendance in a recent Youth Sunday Service. This was the largest attendance on record for Turning Point Assembly. There were over 35 youth involved in the service.
JUNE 2008 UPDATE:
Pastor Gene Turner announces that Turning Point Assembly has taken the initial steps to build a much needed fellowship hall. In the last year they have purchased and remodeled an existing building that is valued at over $400,000. The liberal giving of the people has made it possible to move into the new facility debt free. Attendance continues to soar as they move toward building again. Gene and Marie are a dynamic ministry team gifted of God. Congratulations to Turning Point Assembly.
