When I first arrived, I had brought with me several used hymnals that had been donated by a PFWB church. As I talked with Rev. Joseph Benigno questioning him as to who needed the hymnals, he told me that the little church in Trinidad could really use them.

So, it was decided that we would go there and be with them in their Sunday service and present the hymnals to them. What a service! The people were so wonderful and warm.

Their surroundings may seem simple to us in the states, but I can assure you that their hearts were big in the Lord and their wealth in God’s kingdom was far greater than many. The Trinidad PFWBC Church is relatively a new church plant which started in 2004. It is pastored by Pastor Ben Bugnosen. They have a membership of about 30.

Most of us would find it hard to believe that some used hymnals and used Sunday School literature could mean so much, but it can.

There are many things that we can take for granted— nice, padded pews, air conditioning, windows, carpet, hymnals…

While some of you may think that the sanctuary in this picture is not glamorous, it certainly is to these people. They were so proud to have a church that was theirs and not a rented building.

Keep this wonderful congregation and Pastor Bugnosen in your prayers.

We were welcomed as
we arrived to HBC in
Candon, Ilocos Sur.

Regina and the boys first ride on a TRIKE— a common and inexpensive form of transportation.

The family at the beach!
As you can see, it is
quite different from our beaches in the USA.

Of great interest to me was to visit PIONEERING WORKS to see how they were doing and to also see the needs. I was able to visit many in the Ilocos Sur area and also traveled to ISABELA where I was able to visit the “mother church” of the Isabela region in MALALINTA where Rev. Jim Wall and the people were instrumental in founding the work in that area. The above pictures are (L) Saimateu Church (M) Malalinta Church and (R) Bagong Sikat Church- the next issue of MISSIONS UPDATE will be dedicated to sharing about the PIONEERING WORKS of the PFWBC-Philippines!
