Pastor Marcial Acas had a burden —–a burden sent from the Lord to start a new work in the mountain region of Ilocos Sur. His heart was for the people there who needed the Lord and a place to worship.

They really had no resources—just a driving desire to move forward with the burden in their heart… You see, the people are poor and their daily income would hardly even buy a cup of coffee at Hardee’s over here… Just simple, loving people… They had no building, no formal place to have church—just a DESIRE though to worship God! What would they do??

Well, I can tell you that NOT having a building was not enough to stop them from moving forward! As they organized the people in the town of San Emilio, they came together and identified a little piece of land and built a temporary structure to worship in.

From that very first gathering, the church continues to grow and God’s word and love is penetrating the community there.

I had the opportunity to visit them and to see the church. It may not look like a lot in our standards, but I assure you that God is moving mightily in the midst. The new church is making a difference in the community of San Emilio—a town of a couple hundred farmers.

Please help me in praying that the Lord would bless this new work with a permanent structure, with many souls and an abundance of workers to help carry the Gospel further into the mountains to other villages that need the hope and love that only comes through Christ.

If you want to help this congregation to build a permanent structure, please contact the World Witness department at our Headquarters and let them know. They can ensure that any funds designated to this project will be forwarded to the PFWB church in San Emilio.
